How to choose the level of waterproof and dustproof switch socket
We often see IP44, IP55 - IP67.... What do these mean? This is the waterproof and dustproof level of the product. The dust and water proof switch sockets are usually separated by IP x y.
The IP protection level consists of two numbers. The first number indicates dust and prevents foreign matter from entering the device. The second number indicates the degree of airtightness of the appliance to the extent of moisture and water intrusion. The higher the number, the higher the degree of protection.
Feature number (number) indicates the first indication of the degree of protection
The first indicator number "x" protection level definition
0 - no protection
1- Prevent the intrusion of solids larger than 50mm and prevent the human body (such as the palm) from accidentally touching the components inside the bulb.
2- Prevent intrusion of solid objects of medium size (greater than 12 mm in diameter) to prevent human fingers from touching the parts inside the bulb.
3- Prevent the penetration of tools, wires or similar details of small diameters or thicknesses greater than 2.5 mm into the components in the fixture.
4- Prevent tools, wires or similar details of small diameters or thicknesses greater than 1.0 mm from coming into contact with the internal parts of the fixture.
5-Dustproof completely prevents foreign matter from entering. Although the ingress of dust cannot be completely prevented, the amount of intruded dust does not affect the normal operation of the lamp.
6-Dustproof to prevent foreign matter from entering completely and prevent dust from entering completely.
Second indication of the degree of protection represented by the number of features (numbers)
The second tag number "y" protection level definition
0 - no protection
1- Prevent water droplets (such as condensate) from dripping vertically and adversely affect the bulb.
2- When the luminaire is tilted vertically to 15 degrees, dripping will not adversely affect the luminaire
3- Prevent rain or prevent water from being sprayed into the fixture from a vertical angle of less than 60 degrees.
4- Prevent splashing water from entering the fixture and causing damage.
5- Prevent water in the nozzle from entering the luminaire from all directions and causing damage.
6-Prevent damage caused by large wave intrusion.
7-Prevent the bulb from immersing in water for a period of time or the water pressure is below a certain level to ensure that the bulb will not be damaged by water ingress.
8-When the sink is prevented, the bulb will sink indefinitely under the specified water pressure to ensure that it will not be damaged by water ingress.
Therefore, depending on the environment in which the outlet and switch are used, select the appropriate level of protection. Under normal circumstances, the home environment, office space, high air humidity, water or dusty places or need to be waterproof and dustproof, it is recommended to use waterproof and dustproof switches, sockets, it is generally recommended to achieve IP55 level, higher Levels will increase your costs.
